I seem remember there was a left-handed relief pitcher who pitched a few games with a hard batting helmet. I believe he had a brain tumor and his first name was Rob. I also believe he played for the Padres and Mariners. Anyone know who I’m talking about and what happened to him?

I don’t mean John Olerud who played first base with a batting helmet.

My 9 yr old has recently signed up to play softball. This is her 1st year playing. When we went to her 1st practice Wednesday, I noticed that alot of the kids had their own batting helmets, bats, bat bags, etc. So far I have spent 0 on cleats, a glove, a ball, and a bat bag. I’m a single mom and I did not know this was going to be so exspensive!
My question is…. Do I need to buy my daughter her OWN bat? ( they run between -0) and her own batting helmet? When i was a kid we only needed cleats and a glove. lol

im going to be pitching slowpitch in a co-rec C/D league. I want to protect myself after almost geting a liner in the face last year. a catcher’s hockey style mask is too expensive. what about a batting helmet with a face cage on it? does that work? or would i be more of a target and get more liners hit at me? your thoughts

Thought the protective batting helmet is required by MLB. They’re not even wearing caps.

Basically I want to take out all the plastic little hats and put them in a clear container made out of plastic (or glass, but probaly plastic) There are 30 hats in all and they are pretty small. I can get rid of the board part, but want to keep the hats. Suggestions?

PS The Cheaper the better!

Santo made his debut with the Cubs on June 26, 1960. He played with the team until 1973, then finished his career with the cross-town Chicago White Sox in 1974. During his 14-season run with the Cubs, Santo hit 337 home runs; he was the first third baseman to hit over 300 home runs and win five Gold Gloves, a feat since matched by only Mike Schmidt, a Hall of Fame player.

In 1966, in the midst of trying to break the Cubs’ team consecutive-game hitting streak, Santo was sidelined for nearly two weeks following a beaning that fractured his cheekbone. When Santo returned (and broke the record) he was wearing an improvised ear-flap on his batting helmet in order to protect the injury. Earflaps have since become standard equipment on batting helmets.

In the early years of his playing career, he carefully concealed the fact that he had Type 1 diabetes. He feared that had this information come out, he would be forced into retirement. As part of the publicity surrounding "Ron Santo Day" at Wrigley Field on August 28, 1971, he revealed his struggle with diabetes. He was diagnosed with this disease at the age of 18, and was given a life expectancy of 25 years.

Is it possible to install a facemask on the Easton Stealth Grip batting helmet?? I play fastpitch softball and i need to put a facemask on my helmets and i really like how this helmet feels when i try it on. Please help!! Thanks!

I am going to be the silver robot in daft punk for holloween but i dont exactly know something. i know that when you put everything on the base helmet. Ive seen some that say to use a batting helmet but others say to use a bike helmet on with a visor any suggestions please be very descriptive and if you have ay other ideas of how to make the helmet
